ECO Buddy

Scope
ON JANUARY 22ND, TEAMS FROM LEW WERE INVITED TO A NEW YEAR'S KICK-OFF TEAM EVENT THAT AIMED TO OFFER MORE THAN THE CLASSIC TEAM DINNER.
The goal: To create an experience that builds connections, is meaningful, and provides sustainable value.
Challenge
Many departments hold team events on a regular basis. Increasingly, however, teams are looking for formats that offer more than the classic team dinner: they want experiences that build connection, create a sense of purpose, and perhaps even provide a positive added value.
IMPLEMENTATION
First, the teams were given an impressive insight into the global energy situation: Around 660 million people worldwide have no access to safe electricity and must rely on light sources that are harmful to their health. This is where the "Eco Buddy" project comes in.
Under guidance, the participants worked in teams of five to build "Eco Buddys"—robust, modular solar systems that provide families without access to electricity a reliable source of light and power. The teams not only worked together but also created a concrete, technical solution that improves the lives of these people. In addition, each team designed personal greeting cards and cotton bags.
The finished solar systems are distributed via local NGOs in regions where electricity is scarce. These organizations know the communities well and ensure that the Eco Buddys get to where they are needed most urgently.
Feedback
...it was a fact that many people came up afterward and reported that they weren't aware that "energy poverty" has such serious consequences. It made the feeling of making the world a little brighter with this team event all the more rewarding...
This turned the New Year's reception into an event that not only strengthened the team but also supported people on the other side of the world. A day that connects—and has a lasting impact in the best sense of the word.
